An outstanding figure in the development of the city and vicinity along all line is Mr. Randle T. Moore. Mr. Moore through the diversity of his interests, was prominently know in business, social, educational and religious circles of the city and held many prominent positions in his career of service to Shreveport.

Mr. Moore attended Centenary College in Shreveport. His educational interests went fuether, however, ans he was later made a chairmen of the board of trustees of Centenary College, director of Louisiana Orphanage, Ruston, and member of the board of trustees of the Mansifield Female College.

The Randle T. Moore center was built in 1924 as a residence. Mr. Moore, who was a friend of Mayor Clyde Fant, offered to donate the mansion to the City of Shreveport to be used as a site for senior citizens' recreational and leisure needs. Following the death of Mrs. Moore in Septemeber of 1968, the Moore family carried out the philanthropic wishes of Mr. and Mrs. Moore.

It underwent a major renovation in 1999 and retains its character in keeping with its location in the Fairfield Historic District.

We salute Randle T. Moore!.
