Festival Plaza on Farmer's Market day
The Festival Plaza site is located at the "South Gateway" to downtown Shreveport. The site was known for years as "the hole". With the construction of two riverfront casinos and hotels in recent years, the parking lots and other areas which had previously been used for popular downtown festivals (such as the Red River Revel, Mudbug Madness and others) were taken. The city purchased "the hole" and made it into a permanent festival site, after performing an environmental assessment and cleanup.
