***Update*** Domestic dispute leaves man stabbed to death Shreveport Police detectives are investigating a stabbing that claimed the life of a man.
At approximately 3:29 a.m. on January 17, 2009, Shreveport Police patrol officers responded to a welfare concern at an apartment in the 1000 block of Quail Creek Rd. Upon arrival, officers discovered the body of 29 year old Brian Spinks in the residence there. Spinks was suffering from numerous stab wounds and was pronounced deceased at the scene. A female in the apartment, identified as 24 year old Kimethia Coleman, initially told officers that a black male suspect had entered the apartment and stabbed the victim.
Detectives and crime scene investigators were dispatched to the scene and immediately began their investigation. Detectives interviewed Coleman and soon learned that she had not been telling the truth. Based on this interview and other evidence, investigators believe that Coleman and Spinks, who were romantically involved, were engaged in some type of domestic dispute during which Coleman stabbed the Spinks. Kimethia Coleman, of the 2900 block of Weyman St. in Shreveport, was arrested by investigators and booked into the Shreveport City Jail on one count of manslaughter.
Due to technical difficulties with the camera system at the Shreveport City Jail, Kimethia Coleman’s mug shot is not immediately available.
Anyone with any information regarding this case is urged to call Shreveport Police detectives at 318-673-6955 or Shreveport-Caddo Parish Crime Stoppers at 318-673-7373. -spd- View all SPD press releases at www.shreveportla.gov |
