Detectives arrest suspect in mid-day shooting

Shreveport Police detectives have arrested a local man in connection with a lunch hour shooting that left another man with an injured foot.

At approximately 12:00 p.m. on January 19, 2010, Shreveport Police patrol officers responded to a shooting in the 200 block of Prospect St. Upon arrival, officers could not locate any crime scene, but moments later discovered 25 year old Carlton Boyd one street over in the 200 block of Robinson St. suffering from a single gunshot wound to the right foot. Boyd was transported to LSUHSC by the Shreveport Fire Department with what has been described as a non-life-threatening wound.

Detectives were dispatched to the scene and immediately began their investigation. Investigators learned that a male suspect chased Boyd and shot at him several times, striking him once in the foot. The suspect then fled the scene. Detectives were able to identify the suspect and he was subsequently apprehended without incident this afternoon in the 500 block of Egan St. Investigators have charged 25 year old David Coleman of the 500 block of Egan St. in Shreveport with one count each of aggravated battery and convicted felon in possession of a firearm and booked him into the Shreveport City Jail.

Anyone with any information regarding this case is urged to call Shreveport Police detectives at 318-673-6955 or Shreveport-Caddo Parish Crime Stoppers at 318-673-7373.
