Shreveport Police respond to suspicious activity call Shreveport Police patrol officers responded to a suspicious activity call this morning in Shreveport's Broadmoor neighborhood.
At approximately 7:07 a.m. this morning, patrol officers were dispatched to the 4400 block of Finley Dr. in relation to a suspicious person approaching a male child walking to school. Upon arrival, officers contacted the child who reported that an older white male with grey hair wearing a red plaid shirt and blue jeans driving what he described as an older model small green rusty pick-up truck pulled up near him on Finley and got out of the vehicle with something, possibly a knife-like instrument, in his hand and yelled "come here". The child fled the scene and authorities were notified. The child was not injured.
Officers circulated the area in an attempt to locate the vehicle but did not find any trucks matching that description. While there have been rumors of a similar incident occurring recently, patrol supervisors report that this is not the case. The description of the vehicle and the male driving it have been broadcast to all patrol officers and they are being directed to pay extra close attention to area schools. The police department would like to take this opportunity to remind parents and students to always be vigilant and report any suspicious activity near schools or bus stops immediately. The non-emergency number for the Shreveport Police Department is 318-673-BLUE(2583) and, in the event of an emergency, 911. -spd- View all SPD press releases at www.shreveportla.gov |
