Shreveport Police investigating two possibly related incidents Shreveport Police officers are investigating two separate incidents that occurred this morning and believe they are possibly related.
At approximately 7:50 a.m. this morning, a 16 year old female was waiting for a bus in the 1600 block of Audrey Ln. in Shreveport’s Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. neighborhood when she was approached by a man who told her that he had been watching her and that he wanted her. The suspect asked the juvenile if she wanted to have sex and then exposed himself to her. The suspect subsequently fled the scene of the crime on foot. The man has been described to police as a black male in his late fifties, approximately 6 feet tall weighing about 250 pounds, wearing a black or brown jacket and blue jeans. The man is reported to be wearing some type of black skull cap and is missing some teeth. He has some facial hair that is graying. The victim was not injured.
Just 38 minutes later, police responded to a similar call on E. Kings Hwy. near Preston Ave. A 17 year old female reported to officers that a male suspect driving a red, older model 4 door sedan with paint peeling off of a rear quarter panel of the vehicle approached her as she was walking and asked her where she was going. The suspect then offered her a ride and told her she could help him. The victim fled the scene and called police. She described the suspect as a black male in his late fifties with missing teeth wearing a black skull cap with a white stripe on it. The victim was not injured.
Based on the very similar descriptions given by each victim, patrol supervisors believe the same suspect may be involved in both of these cases. The description of the suspect and the vehicle has been broadcast to all patrol officers and detectives have been notified as well. The police department would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to police immediately. The non-emergency number for the Shreveport Police Department is 318-673-BLUE(2583) and, in the event of an emergency, 911. Anyone with any information regarding these cases is urged to call Shreveport Police detectives at 318-673-6955 or Shreveport-Caddo Parish Crime Stoppers at 318-673-7373. -spd- View all SPD press releases at www.shreveportla.gov |
