Detectives arrest suspect in homicide

Shreveport Police detectives have arrested a teenager in connection with a brutal shooting that claimed the life of a local woman.

At approximately 6:33 p.m. on February 3, 2010, Shreveport Police patrol officers responded to a reported shooting in the 8000 block of Wyngate Blvd. just north of W. 84^th St. Upon arrival, officers located 50 year old Yvonne Lee in a vehicle there suffering from at least one gunshot wound to the upper body. Lee was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Detectives and crime scene investigators were dispatched and immediately began their investigation. Based on interviews conducted and evidence recovered, detectives were able to develop a suspect. At approximately 10:45 p.m. last night, investigators booked 17 year old Markeece Mosley of the 900 block of Bartlett in Shreveport into the Shreveport City Jail on one count of second degree homicide. Detectives have learned that Yvonne Lee and Mosely were co-workers and Lee was giving him a ride home. Details of exactly what occurred inside the vehicle are still under investigation, but detectives believe there was some type of altercation between the victim and the suspect during which Mosely produced a firearm and shot the victim. Investigators have seized the firearm they believe Mosely used to kill Yvonne Lee. Detectives stress they are in the very early stages of this investigation and are still working to determine why Markeece Mosely shot the victim.
